Announcement of Academic Support Center Director (EA)

Temporary Educational Assistant (Director, Academic Support Center), PL 19
The Director, Academic Support Center, is a full time temporary Educational Assistant appointment through December 31, 2009, with the possibility of extension based upon college need, performance and funding.

The position reports to the Dean of Academic Affairs and directs the full range of academic services needed to assist students to achieve their learning goals including: skill testing and assessment; tutoring and lab assistance; special course examinations; computer-based instruction; learning skills advising; and operation of a learning center to support students’ adaptation to higher education.  The incumbent may perform some of those professional services personally.

The position directs the work of professional and support staff and student workers in providing testing, tutoring and advisement services.  The Director, Academic Support Center is accountable for providing the learning assistance needed by the College’s students to assist them in attaining academic achievement commensurate with their capabilities through effective performance in the areas of program planning and development; service delivery; training, development and direction of staff and budget and fiscal management

The minimum qualifications are a Master’s degree in a field closely related to the position’s specialty together with two to five years of related experience which includes two years of experience in the supervision of the work of others; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties. Applicants who previously applied for the posted position of Temporary Educational Assistant (Coordinator, Academic Center for Excellence) do not need to re-submit an application.  However, since the minimum qualifications of the Director position are different, applicants must submit an equivalency statement to the e-mail address above if they do not meet the minimum qualifications of the Director position. 

This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
