Associate Dean of Academic Affairs
12-Month, Management Position
ANTICIPATED STARTING DATE:
Spring Semester 2010
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in a discipline appropriate to the management of learning in higher education together with five or more years of experience in higher education, including at least three years of supervisory experience, with experience in teaching and academic administration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, reporting to the Dean of Academic Affairs, collaborates with and assists the Academic Dean with administrative, strategic, and research-based support for program and discipline assessment, advancement of academic rigor, research and development of student success strategies including the College ACE unit, high school collaborative initiatives, faculty and staff evaluations and professional development and NEASC oversight. In addition, the Associate Dean manages assigned programs, including the Learning Resources Center, the Office of Distance Learning, the Academic Support Center and ConnCap.
The Associate Dean’s role is to provide assistance to the Dean of Academic Affairs in all areas of academic administration including supervision of assigned faculty and staff, curriculum and course development initiatives, faculty and staff professional development programs, program and discipline reviews, academic unit budget development and administration, and development and implementation of student success strategies and the conducting of outcomes assessments (retention). Management employees are committed to the operation of the college five days a week, which may include evenings, Saturdays or Sundays.
MINIMUM SALARY:
$85,001 annual approximate, plus excellent medical insurance, retirement and related fringe benefits.
