| Literature Series Kicks off September 29 at Naugatuck Valley Community College
Waterbury, Conn. - The Max R. Traurig Library at Naugatuck Valley Community College will kick off a literature series on Tuesday, September 29, at 4 p.m.
The program will include College President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D., reading on themes of democracy, freedom, patriotism and citizenship. The reading is part of “The September Project”, a program of events taking place in libraries across America, celebrating freedom and democracy.
“We want the experience to be a cozy gathering of people who love reading and connecting with other people,” said De Filippis. “Hearing the power of the written word spoken is a way to connect people, to bring them together.”
The program will also include readings by Alison Wang, librarian, and an NVCC student. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Tom Violante, director of marketing and public relations.
Each reader will choose a 10-15 minute reading and discuss its meaning, their interpretation and the significance of the reading to them. The audience will also have a chance to interact with the readers and share their own thoughts and feelings.
The event is open to the public and will take place in Room L524 of the Max R. Traurig Library/Learning Resources Center. Light refreshments will be served. For directions, visit nvcc.commnet.edu/welcome/maps or call (203) 575-8019.
