| NVCC Aviation Instructor to Guest Speak at Annual Safety Day, July 18
Waterbury, Conn. - Naugatuck Valley Community
College instructor of aviation Tom Bouck will guest speak at
the Oxford Flying Club’s Annual Safety Day on Saturday,
July 18, beginning at 9:00 am.
Bouck is a retired Captain from Continental Airlines
with ATP (Boeing 737,757,767, SD-3) and engineer turbojet
(Airbus, DC 10) ratings. He also has experience as
an air traffic controller, FAA designated examiner
and accident investigator and currently teaches aviation
science courses at Naugatuck Valley Community College.
In addition to Bouck’s presentation, the event
will feature a tour of the control tower, a ramp side
cookout and a spot landing contest, which challenges
members of the Club to land the wheels of a single-engine
airplane on a 15-foot stretch of the 5,000-foot long
runway at Waterbury-Oxford Airport. Dr. Bonnie Simon,
former director of the math and science division at
NVCC, will also present about the College’s associate
degree in Aviation Science program.
The event is open to all pilots and pilots-to-be as
well as anyone interested in learning about flying
and aviation. There is no admission fee or registration
required.
