| Motorcycle Rider Safety Courses Available at NVCC
Waterbury, Conn. - (Waterbury, CT) – Motorcycle
safety courses for novice, intermediate and experienced riders
are currently being offered at Naugatuck Valley Community College.
The Connecticut Rider Education Program is a statewide
program directed by the Department of Transportation.
Its goal is to provide quality motorcycle training
for all rider experience levels.
The basic rider course is suited for individuals who
have little or no riding experience. A training motorcycle
and helmet will be provided, if needed. The fee is
$200. Participants completing the basic course may
qualify for the state license and submit their course
completion card to the Department of Motor Vehicles
in lieu of a skills test.
The intermediate rider course works with individuals
who have some riding experience but would like to improve
braking, turning, evasive maneuvers and street
strategies. The fee is $115. Participants must have
a permit, current motorcycle registration and proof
of insurance.
The experienced rider course is designed to advance
rider skills in all areas. Riders must have a current
motorcycle license and use their own bike for the course.
The fee is $85 and an additional $20 for a passenger.
The program has immediate openings and runs weekly
through October. Classes are filled on a first come,
first served basis.
