WATERBURY, Conn. (March 18, 2008) – The following is the April events calendar for Naugatuck Valley Community College:
THURSDAY, APRIL 3rd
Naugatuck Valley Community College is holding a Health and Wellness Expo on Thursday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Café West on the fifth floor of Kinney Hall on its main campus, located at 750 Chase Parkway in Waterbury.
Admission is free. Exhibits will include blood pressure assessments, glucose testing, skin cancer screening, spinal screening, body fat measurement and pulmonary function testing, as well as back massages and a variety of alternative healing techniques such as Reiki, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, hypnosis and reflexology. SAT. & SUN., APRIL 5-6
The Connecticut Cactus and Succulent Society is holding its 25th Annual Show and Sale on Sat. and Sun., April 5 and 6, at Naugatuck Valley Community College.
The show will be held in the fifth-floor cafeteria inside the Fine Arts Center at the college’s main campus, 750 Chase Parkway, Waterbury from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Free plants will be given to the first 50 attendees or families each day.
The show features displays, auctions, educational demonstrations and short lectures on a variety of topics, including “Succulents for the Windowsill” and “Growing Succulents Under Lights.” For more information, visit www.ctcactusclub.com or call (860) 489-8356.
MONDAY, APRIL 7
Naugatuck Valley Community College is holding free hour-long information sessions and campus tours on Monday, April 7, for those interested in learning more about career advancement, additional training and degree programs.
The sessions will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Kinney Hall, Room K505, on the college’s main campus, 750 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. No appointment is necessary. For more information, call (203) 575-8040.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16, 23, 30
Naugatuck Valley Community College is offering a “Complete Financial Management Workshop" on three consecutive Wednesdays – April 16, 23 and 30 – from 6-8 p.m.
The course is open to all individuals seeking guidance in establishing, setting and planning for financial goals. The course will simplify the complex principles of finance through everyday language, clear diagrams, and real world case study. Topics will span risk and cash management, investment concepts, tax planning, retirement planning, and estate conservation.
The course will be held from 6-8 p.m. at NVCC. Cost is $59 per person. Students are also welcome to register two people for the price of one and share a workbook. The instructor is Vincent Saggese, MBA, chartered financial consultant, and assistant vice-president of wealth management at Naugatuck Savings Bank.
