| NVCC works overtime for students
WATERBURY (Jan. 8, 2008) — Naugatuck Valley Community College will keep its doors open late – and even come in on Saturday – to help students enroll in college courses.
The college will remain open until 7 p.m. to help with last-minute registration Jan. 15-16 and Jan. 22-24. The Saturday registrations, open to new and returning students, will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the 5th floor of Kinney Hall on NVCC’s main campus, 750 Chase Parkway.
Online registration continues through January 30 at www.my.commnet.edu for returning students.
NVCC’s spring semester begins Wednesday, Jan. 23, but the college is working to be as accommodating as possible to students who cannot come during daytime hours.
“We offer late registration because so many of our students hold jobs that make it difficult for them to register during the week,” said James E. Daniels, dean of student services. Daniels has also asked staff to voluntarily park in other lots around the campus during this time to allow students easy in-and-out while applying, registering and paying for college courses.
The college offers close approximately to 200 night classes, 42 online courses, and about 30 Saturday classes for non-traditional students who would like to complete a degree. For more information on late registration, call the Office of Dean of Students at (203) 575-8257.
Located off exit 18 on Interstate 84, NVCC serves more than 10,000 credit and non-credit students from 35 communities across western Connecticut from Litchfield to Waterbury to Seymour to Southbury and Danbury.
