March arts calendar for NVCC

WATERBURY (Feb. 14, 2007) — The following is the March arts calendar for Naugatuck Valley Community College, which serves 35 communities across western Connecticut from Litchfield to Waterbury to Seymour to Southbury and Danbury:

THURSDAY, MARCH 1

The Genesis II theater company at Naugatuck Valley Community College will present “Tropical Blues,” a play about women trying to survive after being released from prison, on Thursday, March 1.

The play, written by NVCC professor William H. Foster, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Playbox Theatre on NVCC’s main campus, located at 750 Chase Parkway. Additional performances will be held March 2-3. Due to the subject matter, the play contains some content for mature audiences only. Tickets are $10. For information or reservations, call (203) 596-8612.

THURSDAY, MARCH 1

Naugatuck Valley Community College is offering a “master dance” class in belly dancing on Thursday, March 1, giving students from the college and the community the opportunity to learn from an instructor who has mastered the style.

The class will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Room A404 of the college’s Fine Arts Center, located on its main campus at 750 Chase Parkway off exit 18 on Interstate 84 in Waterbury. It will be taught by a dancer Katie Moravec, who has been a student of Middle Eastern dance since 1999 and studied with national and international masters in belly dance.

MONDAY, MARCH 5

Rodney Moore, a member of Toxic Dancers dance company, will is teaching a ‘master dance’ course in hip hop March 5 at NVCC.

Naugatuck Valley Community College is offering a “master dance” class in hip hop on Monday, March 5, giving students from the college and the community the opportunity to learn from an instructor who has mastered the style.

The class will be held from 4 to 5:15 p.m. in Room A404 of the college’s Fine Arts Center, located on its main campus at 750 Chase Parkway off exit 18 on Interstate 84 in Waterbury. It will be taught by Rodney Moore, a member of Toxic Dancers dance company and a student at Central Connecticut State University.
