November events at NVCC
WATERBURY (Oct. 13, 2006) — The following is a calendar of November events at Naugatuck Valley Community College, which serves 35 communities across western Connecticut from Litchfield to Waterbury to Seymour to Southbury and Danbury:
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 1
Students interested in enrolling in Naugatuck Valley Community College’s physical therapist assistant program, which begins in the spring of 2007, have until Wednesday, Nov. 1 to apply.
NVCC’s physical therapist assistant (PTA) program offers associate degrees to prepare students for state licensure as PTAs through a collaborative arrangement with Capital, Housatonic, Manchester, Northwestern Connecticut and Tunxis community colleges.

FRIDAY, NOV. 3
Those interested in applying for the fall 2007 nursing program at Naugatuck Valley Community College have until Wednesday, Nov. 3, to register for the next pre-qualifying exam being offered on campus.
The National League for Nursing Pre-Admission Test is a requirement for anyone planning to apply for NVCC’s nursing program. Students have until Nov. 3 to register for the Dec. 4 exam being held on campus. There is a $35 non-refundable fee to take the test.
The exam will also be offered at NVCC on Jan. 4 and the deadline to register for that exam is Dec. 4. Three other exams were already held on campus this fall.
Registration forms are available at the admissions office, online at www.nvcc.commnet.edu/admissions/testing.shtml, or by calling (203) 575-8257. Students must have an NVCC student ID number to register. Applications for the nursing program itself are available after Nov. 1 and must be submitted by Jan. 15.
MONDAY, NOV. 6
On Monday, Nov. 6, the Naugatuck Valley Community College Foundation begins its second online auction to raise money for student labs and NVCC’s new Technology Building, which is under construction.
The auction includes a variety of items donated to the foundation for the event, including trips, jewelry, dining, celebrity and sports memorabilia as well as things like tickets to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons at the Palace Theater in Waterbury, a Dale Carnegie Scholarship, a limited edition Walt Disney serigraph cell of “Pinocchio” from Barker Specialty Co., and a luxurious spa weekend at Mountain View Grand Resort in Whitefield, N.H.

MONDAY, NOV. 6
Naugatuck Valley Community College is holding free hour-long information sessions and campus tours on Monday, Nov. 6, at 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for those interested in learning more about how its course offerings can help advance their careers through additional training and degree programs.
The sessions will take place at Kinney Hall, Room K505, on the college’s main campus, which is located at 750 Chase Parkway in Waterbury off exit 18 on Interstate 84. No appointment is necessary. For more information, call call (203) 575-8294.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 8
The Naugatuck Valley Community College’s Department of the Arts will host the Connecticut Dance Alliance Dance Educators Conference, “Making Dances: Choreography For and By Your Students,” on Wednesday, Nov. 8.
The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on NVCC’s main campus, located at 750 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. It will feature a panel discussion about creating and presenting quality, age-appropriate dances for private studio dancers, and other dance and choreography workshops where dance attire is encouraged.
It is free for Connecticut Dance Alliance members. Cost is $25 for non-members and $15 for non-member students. Lunch is provided and registration is required. For more information or to register, contact Susan Matheke at smatheke@aces.k12.ct.us.
