Grammy-nominated violinist to play at NVCC Sept. 23
Philippe Quint, a Grammy-nominated Russian violinist who is starring in an upcoming movie about a Russian violinist moving to New York, will play with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra at NVCC on Sept. 23.
Star of upcoming film with William Hurt will accompany WSO
WATERBURY (Aug. 15, 2006) — Grammy-nominated Russian violinist Philippe Quint — who was cast to play the leading role with William Hurt in the upcoming feature film, “Russian Blue,” about a classical violinist who comes from Russia to New York — will play with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra at Naugatuck Valley Community College on Sept. 23.
Quint will play Tchaikovsky’s “A Suite of Suites,” the Glazunov Violin Concerto and Shostakovich Symphony No. 5. Members of the Connecticut Accordion Association will also join the symphony during the performance.
The 8 p.m. performance will be held at NVCC’s Fine Arts Center, located on its main campus at 750 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. Tickets are $15, $30 and $40, and $5 for students. For tickets or information, call (203) 574-4283 or visit www.waterburysymphony.org.
