NVCC summer kayaking courses offer introduction to one of America’s fastest growing water sports

WATERBURY (June 19, 2006) — If you’ve always wanted to give kayaking a try, but have put it off because you didn’t know where to begin, consider one of two kayaking courses offered this summer through Naugatuck Valley Community College.

The first course begins June 28. The second begins July 19. Each costs $119 and consists of a two-hour classroom session on a Wednesday evening and a two-hour Saturday kayaking outing on the Farmington River in Collinsville. Kayaks and safety equipment are provided for the on-river session.

Experts from Collinsville Canoe & Kayak will introduce students to one of the country’s fastest growing water sports by teaching them various paddle techniques and safety issues.

For more information, or to register, call (203) 575-8029. Course information is also available at www.nvcc.commnet.edu by clicking on the latest course schedules and then on NVCC’s Summer 2006 Non-Credit Catalog.

NVCC serves 35 communities across western Connecticut from Litchfield to Waterbury to Seymour to Southbury and Danbury. Its 110-acre campus is located off exit 18 on Interstate 84.
