Program Information

The following information is provided to assist you in evaluating the PTA Program. Please contact the program director with any questions.

Acceptance- the percentage of qualified candidates (i.e., met all of the criteria for admission) accepted into the program:

Matriculation- the percentage of admitted candidates that enrolled into the program:

Graduation- the percentage of students that graduated from the program:

Licensure examination- the percentage of graduates that passed the examination for licensure as a PTA:

Note that the limited amount of data is because Connecticut’s Department of Public Health has not yet implemented a licensure exam in Connecticut, so data is only available for graduates who sat for the examination outside of Connecticut.

Employment- the percentage of graduates pursuing and achieving employment as a PTA:

Message from the faculty:   The graduation rates are disconcerting.  Students have left this program for personal reasons more often than for academic reasons.  However, financial burdens have frequently contributed to departure from the program. 

Please note that the curriculum for the education of PTAs is designed for the full-time student.  We recommend that it is not possible to work full-time and to complete this curriculum.  Maintaining part-time employment while studying physical therapy is difficult.  If you must do that we recommend that you complete all of your general education courses prior to matriculating in physical therapy courses.  The academic workload will increase each semester, and in the final semester your academic obligations are extensive and will prohibit any employment.
