We support and enhance the NVCC curriculum

  • By maintaining an awareness of curriculum content through cooperation with faculty, the library is planning its collection development accordingly. Please become involved by suggesting current materials for purchase, and remember to include new formats (video, DVD). ChoiceReview.online helps you to build up library collections in your subject area and is available at the library home page this fall. CHOICE reviews publications since September 1988. We need your input for weeding out items in your subject areas! Shelf list reports that include call number and publication dates in your subject area are available. Contact Alison Wang at x8250.

  • By utilizing the Library Advisory Committee to advise and assist the LRC with its mission and to disseminate information to academic divisions. We also welcome your suggestions of academic sites for inclusion on our main web page.

  • By providing media services and equipment, including audio & video, taping, photography, and darkroom work. Contact Ed Nolan (M-F 7:30-3:30) at x8060.

  • By providing support for individual projects or training in WebCT course management software.

  • By offering sessions in library research through our library instruction program. Contact Liz Frechette @x8106 or John Leonetti @x8021.

Services for Faculty

Circulation:

NVCC faculty may now borrow materials from other Connecticut academic libraries that participate in the CCALD program. Stop by our circulation desk and fill out a form. You will then be given an identifying CCALD borrowing card to present at the lending academic library. All borrowing is governed by the lending academic library.

New best-sellers are here! Please stop by and browse our new collection. Pleasure reading just got better.

Online Catalog:

You can now search from one to twelve community college library catalogs simultaneously. From our main web page select Library Online Catalog

Technical Services:

Faculty may now check the status of orders they have recommended for purchase by the library by searching the online catalog for specific titles. Item information will indicate if it is in process, the date ordered, and the date received. Once an item is cataloged, location status and call number will be given. Faculty will also receive an email when their ordered materials are available.

Periodicals:

Contact John Cupole @ x8199 regarding recommendations to the library’s periodical collection. Titles recommended for addition/deletion need to be sent to John by June 1.

Web Page, Electronic Databases:

Electronic Databases are accessible both on/off campus. Faculty need a Banner ID and PIN to access electronic databases when off-campus.
